Teemu Ollikainen – psykologi, psykoterapeutti ja valmentaja

With me as your coach, you’ll gain valuable insights into yourself. In all my work, I approach life’s and the mind’s challenges through understanding—moving forward and exploring new solutions. Understanding matters because it helps us make sense of our story, enhances our sense of control, and reduces the stress that often comes with change. I strive to have open, honest conversations with my clients—sometimes pausing to sit with what’s difficult, and other times encouraging new perspectives and actions. Change can start from within or from external circumstances—and the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I am one of Finland’s most experienced occupational psychologists. My clients are primarily busy professionals, managers, and leaders in demanding roles. I also work as an organizational psychologist, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and non-fiction author. My approach is grounded in evidence-based methods, supported by a specialist training in psychotherapy—which combines clinical and research perspectives. Still, this work isn’t something you learn only from books. What I say and do has been tested not only on myself, but with hundreds of clients.

I was the first non-fiction author in Finland to write about the connection between eating, weight management, and psychology (Syö mitä mielesi tekee (Finnish book)WSOY, 2012; 2024). I’ve trained large numbers of dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other health professionals on the psychology of lifestyle and respectful care of clients living with obesity. One of my specialties is understanding how habits form—and how they can be changed.

From a coaching perspective, I’m a textbook “before-and-after” case: formerly in poor condition, clearly overweight, and burned out—today, I’m physically active and sustainably well, having found balance between a demanding career and co-parenting two teenagers.

In addition to enjoying a peaceful home life, I recharge through tennis, cycling, table tennis, home workouts, song writing, boating, and spending time at the cottage.
